What is Kisspeptin?

Kisspeptin is a neuropeptide involved in regulation of GnRH signaling. Investigations in reproductive endocrinology examine its role in reproductive hormone control and fertility. These research interests do not establish an approved therapeutic use; FDA approval is absent.

Mechanism of action

Kisspeptin regulates signaling along the GnRH axis, contributing to the control of reproductive endocrine function.

Targets: GnRH axis

Research indications

  • Hormonal Regulation

    Most effective

Direct endocrine activity produces effects on hormone regulation that are well characterized.

  • Reproductive Health

    Effective

Fertility investigations and reproductive medicine are areas of research and clinical application.

  • Metabolic Support

    Moderate

Hormonal signaling may produce secondary effects on metabolic function.

How to reconstitute and inject

Diluent: Use bacteriostatic water only; avoid saline because precipitation can occur.

  1. Let the refrigerated vial warm to room temperature for 15–20 minutes before preparing it.
  2. Disinfect the stopper using an alcohol swab, then wait until the surface has dried fully in the air.
  3. Use a sterile syringe to measure your calculated amount of bacteriostatic water. Use this diluent only; avoid saline because precipitation may occur.
  4. Introduce the water gradually against the inner glass wall. Keep the stream away from the peptide powder itself.
  5. Rotate the vial gently to mix its contents. Do not shake forcefully, because vigorous agitation can degrade the peptide.
  6. Wait 2–3 minutes for the powder to dissolve completely. Check that the liquid is transparent and has no color.
  7. Measure your calculated dose with an insulin syringe in preparation for administration beneath the skin.
  8. Use the abdomen, thigh or upper arm for subcutaneous administration. Change the injection location each time to help prevent lipodystrophy.
  9. Return the mixed vial to refrigeration at 2–8°C. Use the prepared solution within 28 days of mixing.

What to expect

Week 1–2
Early effects may accompany an adjustment period. Watch for any unwanted reaction as you adapt.
Week 2–4
The principal effects may begin emerging. Follow your clinician’s recommendations for any change in dose.
Week 4–8
Main effects are expected to be apparent at this stage. Review your progress together with your clinician.
Week 8+
Review the outcome with your clinician and decide whether to continue, take a cycle break or adjust the dose. These timings do not establish effectiveness for every compound.

Side effects and safety

  • Bruising, redness or mild soreness where the injection is given
  • Possible allergic response; stop use if you develop hives or a rash
  • Variable individual response; begin with the lowest dose and watch closely for reactions
  • Discuss use with your clinician beforehand and report symptoms that are unusual for you

Frequently asked questions

What is Kisspeptin?

This neuropeptide helps regulate reproductive signaling through GnRH.

Which dosing schedules are discussed?

Community protocols name a low starting amount and a later titrated amount without stating a numeric dose. Frequency and route depend on the protocol. Dosing also varies with the indication. Review current literature with a qualified clinician; these descriptions do not establish a personal regimen or an FDA-approved dose.

What should I know about adverse effects?

Reactions vary with dose, route and individual sensitivity. Human safety data remain incomplete; discuss symptoms with a clinician.
